لینوکس یا با نام صحیح‌تر گنو/لینوکس نسخه‌های بسیار بسیار زیادی دارد. هر نسخه از گنو/لینوکس را یک «توزیع» می‌نامند. آمار دقیقی از تعداد توزیع‌ها وجود ندارد. اما چیزی در حدود ۱۵۰۰ تا ۲۰۰۰ توزیع لینوکس وجود دارد.

در چند شماره با اندکی از خصوصیات سیستم‌عامل لینوکس آشنا شدیم. در این شماره و شماره‌های بعدی قصد داریم بیشتر با این سیستم‌عامل آشنا شویم. در دو مقاله قصد داریم پا را از معرفی لینوکس فراتر گذاشته و به بررسی نکاتی بپردازیم که نقاط قوت لینوکس به شمار می‌آید و نبود آنها در سیستم‌عامل‌های دیگر مانند ویندوز همواره کاربران را آزار می‌دهد. نکاتی که باعث برتری لینوکس به ویندوز می‌شود. یک شماره را هم به برتری‌های ویندوز به لینوکس اختصاص خواهیم داد.

سرویس اخبار خارجی ایتنا - شرکت ژاپنی نیکون روز چهارشنبه از اولین دوربین SLR با قابلیت فیلمبرداری رونمائی کرد.

دوربین Nikon D90-SLR دارای دقتی برابر با 12.2 مگاپیکسل بوده و همچنین قادر است با دقت 720p اقدام به فیلمبرداری نماید.

این دوربین تا ماه سپتامبر و با قیمت 1000 دلار برای بدنه وارد بازار خواهد شد.

اغلب دوربین‌های عکاسی قادر به فیلمبرداری نیز هستند اما این کار را با استفاده از لنزهای داخلی خود انجام می‌دهند.
ویژگی D90 در این است که عملیات فیلمبرداری با لنزهای قابل تعویض و خاص امکان‌پذیر خواهد بود.

این دوربین در مقایسه با دوربین‌های فیلمبرداری دیجیتالی با امکان تعویض لنز ویژگی‌های قابل انعطاف و انطباق‌پذیری را برای کاربر فراهم می‌آورد.

سنسور بزرگ این دوربین کیفیت بهتری را در شرایط نور کم مهیا خواهد ساخت.
البته از نقاط ضعف این دوربین (اگر بتوان به آن نقطه ضعف گفت) ضبط صدا بصورت Mono می‌باشد

A peaceful protest supporting self-confessed NASA hacker Gary McKinnon took place this week in London.

About 35 backers showed up Tuesday in front of the Home Office to protest the extradition of McKinnon to the United States. They said he should instead be put on trial in the United Kingdom, where he lives.

McKinnon is accused of one of the biggest military hacks ever, slipping into computer systems belonging to the U.S. Army, Air Force, Department of Defense, and NASA. The U.S. government alleges that McKinnon's hacking activities caused $700,000 worth of damage. McKinnon has always maintained that his activities were harmless and that he was merely looking for evidence of UFOs.

Don't count Internet Explorer out just yet.

On Wednesday, Microsoft released the second public beta for Internet Explorer 8. If anything, this release brings IE up to par with alternative browsers such as Opera, Apple's Safari, and Mozilla's Firefox in terms of security and features. It also pushes Microsoft a little ahead of the competition.

The user interface hasn't changed much since Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1, except to add a Security pull-down menu between Page and Tools on the main toolbar. In addition to blocking phishing sites, IE 8 now highlights the main domain of any Web site you visit. Thus if you think you are on eBay's site and something other than ebay.com is highlighted, chances are you are on the wrong Web site.
